Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA) aims to provide high quality research assistance as well
as training expertise on a wide range of alcohol and other drug issues.

DARTA has been contracted by such diverse organisations as the Football Federation of Australia (FFA), the Australian Red Cross, the Australian Cricketers Association (ACA), the Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (NADA), Uniting Care, the Mental Health Services (TheMHS) Conference, the Rugby Union Players Association (RUPA), Sutherland Shire Council, the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and many schools communities from across the country.

Some of the work that has been conducted by DARTA includes:

  • an Australia-wide survey of alcohol and other drug use
  • a review of an organisation’s alcohol and other drug policy
  • whole school community presentations on a wide range of alcohol and other drug issues
  • the development of a communications strategy
  • media consultancies for a number of organisations
  • research into the effectiveness of peer education programs
  • Australia-wide delivery of specifically designed alcohol and other drug training programs
